According to a UK general, the UK should be in Afghanistan for another 40 years. What do you think?

Yup he is about right......you cant just invade a country...beat it then leave it.......In order to give the place some structure we need to invest in its army, its politicl infastructure as at present its own goverment has no power outside of Kabul, 5 miles out of town the war lords rule. Can you believe this? its 2009 and they have a society based on warlords and who has the biggest gun rules. We need to get them water.Running water into each home. Sewerage..A complete sewerage system. Electricity, comunication, education, health. In short give Afgahnistan what America gave to Japan after the second world war......A blueprint, a blueprint for a succesfull country that can support its own population

I only can agree and back the opinion of that UK-general. Britain should overtake full responsibility in Afghanistan as soon as possible so that Germany for example can withdraw all their troops as soon as possible. The Afghanistan-problems should get solved by the British and American troops alone because only these two countries are able to solve the problems and if it it is needed they should stay also for the next 40 years down there. Both countries are experienced in these actions and so we should let them do their job down there for the next 40 years. Both countries are experts in solving problems of this type in other countries and so other countroes better should keep off because the have no experience or they are inept.

Britain has been since a 100 years to Afghanistan so that I am sure they are experts for that region and they could do such a military engagement the best way. Other nations can not be helpful to the British at all so that other nations should keep strictly off from Afghanistan. I do not see the problem if the British will stay there for another 40 years. As we know very well from history, the British can do it and they should do it. After my opinion they sent too few troops to Afghanistan and they just could do a little more as they are doing actually. And the USA could also send some troops there as they have a huge army and enough people.
