Eight minutes after the Sun is actually on the horizon, its light reaches Earth. The terms, 'breaking dawn' and 'first light' are pretty much interchangeable.

You're reading I know that twilight is the time between dawn and sunrise, i know what a new moon is, and what an eclipse is.. but what is 'breaking dawn'?
