10 years. Btw I just renewed mine.
10 years if you were 16 or older when you applied for it; 5 years if under 16.
yup its 10 years. Which is kind of odd because when I got my childrens passports they were all babies. They are 4, 5, and 8 now and when the airport looks at their passports they see a baby. How do they know they are who they are?
It is 10 years but many countries require that at least 6 months are left before it expires. That actually means that you should renew it at about 9 years 3 months.
10 years.
I got my most recent one in 2001 and it expires in 2011.
10 Years....I just got a new one at the end of June.
Good for 10 years +5
It was 10 years, but that may have changed.

How long is a passport valid and when should I renew my passport?
If you were 16 or Older when the passport was issued, then your passport is valid for 10 Years.
If you were 15 or Younger when the passport was issued, then your passport is valid for 5 Years.
The Issue Date of your passport can be found on the data page of your Passport Book or the front of your Passport Card.
If possible, you should renew your passport approximately nine (9) months before it expires. Some countries require that your passport be valid at least six (6) months beyond the date of your trip. Some airlines will not allow you to board if this requirement is not met.
If your passport has already expired, you may still be able to renew your passport by mail. See How to Renew My Passport.

Buttman, i my passport still has 8 years on it, but i have changed my name, would i need a new passport OR can they just do a quick name change on the front page?

If they haven't changed the law, you just can go to a passport
office and just amend your new name on it. But I think you would
have to pay a very small fee.
