I hope I never get stopped and checked for underwear.
There is no law, in the United States, that forbids driving a motor vehicle, without shoes.
There is only one possible exception:
Being involved in an auto accident and not wearing shoes was a contributing factor.
Then, a citation could be issued for careless driving.

You live in Florida. I have scanned the Fla. motor vehicle statutes, and found no mention of barefoot driving.
Where I live in IL it is illegal.
I have never heard definitively if this is or is not illegal...but I too drive barefoot and if I get pulled over, just to be on the safe side I slip my shoes back on.
I've always heard that too, but not sure.
No man, google it a you will get the Society for Barefoot living page. There they have a lot of myths about being barefoot that are debunked.
how are they going to know if you kicked off your flip flops?? slide them back on if you get pulled over
I know that in Texas, they can give you a ticket for driving without shoes. I've never known them to do so, but there's always a first.
Since I was a teenager, I have heard this business about barefoot driving. But I am not personally aware of any law that says specifically that you may not drive barefoot. FYI, I love to drive barefoot in the summer.
It is illegal, but who's gonna know?
The only way to get fined for such a silly thing is if you are first caught for a more serious offense, such as DUI, and the officer just happens to notice you are barefoot.
In Arizona it is, but I do it all the time. I drive better barefoot.
no , you may injure your toes , then you have to call a TOE truck , ;-) and you get a 5 DIGIT fine ;-) and if you try to fight it , you will be DE-FEETED ;-) they wont just let you WALK . ;-)
