Archaeologists date Liddington Castle to around 700-500 BC. All that remains is a moat surrounding about 7.5 acres of land. There are 2 other ancient forts within 4km and the surrounding area is full of ancient stone circles and burial sites.
Definitely. Plenty of hilltop forts dated to hundreds of years before the Romans arrived. Britons could fight each other as well as anybody.
