When your computer switches to screen saver mode while you are away from computer, does that put downloads, virus scans, etc on hold until you come out of screen saver?

The screen saver simply saves your computer monitor from having a burned in image. It has nothing to do with your computer going into "sleep" or "hibernation mode which will stop everything. It acts as if the computer is shut down but it really is not.

No. It only blanks the screen and puts up pretty pictures.
