Do you consider Bruce Springsteen a modern day ballad singer of greatness?

    I like Bruce, but by far, his best work was in the first half of his career. Much like Dylan, I consider him a better songwriter than performer.

    I immensely enjoy his music and it is a testament to his musical acumen to stay relevant going on 40 years. His music has evolved from epic story telling to more breezy catchy numbers. I'd say in his recent career Springsteen has adopted a nice hybrid of his old school rock with pensive well-considered numbers. I've generally prefered pre-Human Touch/ Lucky Town. He tells stories of life, love, and angst; a ballad singer? I suppose by definition he is. :) Great Question!
