Simply that most of the BS you get in college is a bunch of theory and has nothing to do with selling houses or selling anything for that matter. Selling requires people skills and those kind of skills are not, unfortunately, taught in school, or college, and are learned on your own and in self-improvement books and courses, and the school of hard knocks.

  • Passing that course can be equated with a degree. It is tough, deserves respect and requires volumes of knowledge.

No college degree required for financial success... yet plenty of broke PHDs and MBAs... I speak with them ocassionally...

Real Estate sales is not a technical skill, it is a people skill primarily. I know quite a few very competent Real Estate agents who know their craft but can't sell... I also know plenty of very successful Real Estate agents who are not all that technically competent but can sell snow in Alaska..

You don't but it helps. There are many jobs you can do that don't require a degree but to go further in that field you do.

In this real estate market, a college degree would make you want to do something else to earn money.

why should it be? If an individual can pass all of the tests and take the classes, they are adequately prepared. I will stress adequetly. A good agent will take continuing education, work full time, and be competent in the areas in which they practice. This isn't a career for the faint of heart-long hours, little pay at first. The turnover rate is 80% in the first 2 years. Very few survive 7. Think before you jump!

Not even a high school diploma. All you need is a real estate agent license.
