i was thinking about this today actually, thank you so much for asking as a moderate, i have noticed that people on the far side of both aisles, so hardcore conservatives and hardcore democrats both are guided with their emotions and not facts. on the conservative side, they are led by their emotion of greed and on their religious beliefs, and the hardcore democratic side, it's stupidity and sympathy. as as you get farther towards moderate, its more logic and less emotions. what do you think?

No, I'm the biggest liberal in the office and my nickname there is "stone face". My wife often calls me "the sushi guy", because I'm such a "cold fish" when it comes to emotional displays. Only my daughters call me "hug-daddy", what that means I'm not sure - but I love to hear them say it. No, not all "liberals" are emotional - but we are passionate about some things - like the truth...and justice..and equality...and freedom...and patriotism.

Just ask any libertarian. There are so many facts for not being emotional. Or even Ross Perot. Bush was the most emotional recent president we've had. Kennedy was emotional but seemed to use it effectively. The old Bush had no emotion. Ford was in the recent Bush class. Carter needed to let some emotion out. Reagan had alzheimers so that's out. Clinton got too emotional during the Monica thing, but was very social other than that. Johnson used emotion in the bathroom. So it's a toss-up! +4

I know I am taking another answer space up, but I would like to also make the point that most people have zero idea what they even mean by the word "Liberal". Some think it means just sliding back and forth into a grey area and not taking any stand at all, like flip-flopping McCain. Let's define liberal. I would take it to mean someone who knows that most issues are not black or white and allows for interpretation on both sides with equal compassion. The structure of the issues is already contained in the excellent work the framers did with the U.S. Constitution. We need to know that liberalism allows for some leeway in the changes that have taken place in the last 200 years.

I'm sure some are. i know some are not. It is human nature to respond to emotion. People who NEVER display emotion are somewhat creepy. I have met idealistic liberals who want the world to be a hugfest, yet I know liberals who are very Spock like types who rely almost solely on logic. i find conservatives are just as likely to rely on emotion and at times , more so due to the religious element. Both sides have a nasty habit of labeling their opinions as "fact"

No. Although it is true, particularly of the Cindy Sheehan/ Code Pink liberals, that they are mostly weak and won't fight. I would also add that conservatives, especially the Tea Bagging variety are the ones who are the most emotional of all. After all, wanting a civil war and/or a military coup to unseat a legitimately elected president is extremely emotional. (completely illogical actually)

To an extent we are all led by our emotions, but speaking as a non-American I have to say that the conservatives in that country seem to be the group that most easily has its emotions manipulated.
