Everyone has their favorites. Personally I like 2, Olympus and Panasonic. I recently bought this one from Abes of Maine. It's waterproof, shockproof, freezeproof and small enough where it's very easy to carry!

I also have a Panasonic Lumix camera, actually I have a couple of these.
Now my husband would tell you to go Nikon and my son would tell you to go with Canon.
It's all in what you're looking for and what you want to do with the camera. I carry the Olympus all the time because it fits in a pocket and I never know what I'm going to see when I'm out and about.
Do your research and compare features and specs. Know how much you can afford to spend and go from there. Don't forget to figure in at least one spare battery and memory card. Cards have come down in price though. Duracell also has replacement batteries for many cameras and at a much lower cost than the camera manufacturer will.

I really think Sony is a real good camera.But my friends have other opinions.My one friend has a Kodak and said it broke the first time she used it.But was fized the second day of use.

Hmm i failed to read the question for what it is.. I think mainly in SLRs. If you want a "compact" camera.... Absolutely Canon, the last 2 compacts where both canon and I love em.
