There are many reasons. What are the symptoms that keep you awake?
I have had to take opiates all my life because i have a painful condition which causes me to need them. And as a child opiates made me very sleepy. But i also had ADHD and Adderal would knock me out cold (put me to sleep), and both of the cases are known by terms such as paradoxical reaction or paradoxical effect.

Itching is a sign of allergy. Try taking a benadryl before bed when you are taking opiate painkillers.

Thanks, I'll try that for the duration I take these painkillers! Also Benadryl contains diphenhydramine that makes you drowsy as well!
