Should rock music be played in church. i go to a church where the band plays rock sounds in church.should that go on in church?

As long as the song is in line with sound doctrine and is praising God, I don't think He minds what style or instrument is used. He just wants us to make a joyful noise in praise of him. King David sang with harp and lyre, which was probably a lot closer to a guitar than is a piano or organ.

I think we need to remember that God created us with many different styles, tastes and personalities. We are all to come to the same moral standard, but within that moral standard, we are allowed to express ourselves in different ways. Not only does God allow that, He delights in it. Look at all the beautiful and delightful variety He created in the world. We don't need to waste our time in trying to make everyone else conform to our idea of what is right. As long as they are complying with God's standards of morality, there is no reason why they can't be different. I think the Moravian Church has a very good standard on this: In essentials: unity, in nonessentials: liberty, in all things: love. http://www.moravian.org/ So ask yourself, is this a basic essential of Christian doctrine in which we all must agree to a unified standard? Or is this a nonessential in which we can all have liberty to enjoy what we like? And in deciding, are you loving your neighbor, or are you being selfish and insisting on your way in a non-loving fashion?

And if the rock band bothers you, and you really can't learn to live with it for the sake of your neighbor, then there are plenty of other churches that don't have praise bands. You can always switch.

I think that the church should offer two or three different weekly services, one with a rock band, one with traitional choir singing, and maybe a third with folk or southern gospel music. This way a church can try to connect with all generations without offendng anyone. If it is only posible to do one Sunday service, I think it should not be too "wild" or loud.

Did God ever say play only hymns in church...that would be a negative, God said to worship him and if thats how someone worships him than i see nothing wrong with it...often people associate church as a very quiet place but ive read several scriptures were God calls us to bring praise and honor to his name and one way of doing that is music, no matter what the type as long as they are sincere about what they are singing and playing and are trying to bring full honor to God and not each other than i dont think that God or anyone should have a problem with it. :)

I like the though of that. Not if there were words in the song that would be disrepecful to the church but I think the sound is really good. Anyway it might bring more younger people to church.

I'm not a fan. I like church music in church and rock when I want to rock. Give God a little respect, right? Why not have special music that sounds like "praise" rather than a party.

Everyone in this so called free world has a choice to practice any religion their heart desires. If you want loud music or soft music its your choice. The question isn't 'should rock music be played in church?' The question is "should rock music be played in MY church?" That is only for you to decide and find a church that suits you.

I AGREE WITH THE ONE THAT SAID SHE GOES TO CHURCH TO FIND PEACE AND NOT NOISE, AND I ALSO AGREE WITH THE THAT SAID SHOW RESPECT TO GOD,I BELIEVE THAT THE MAN THAT IS PLAYING AND SINGING THE MUSIC IN CHURCH IS A GOD CALLED MAN AND I LOVE HIM LIKE A CHRISTIAN SHOULD, BUT I HAVE TO WALK OUT OF CHURCH SOMETIMES WHEN HE PLAYS. If you don't like the music you should switch masses, switch churches or complain to the officiants. I used to hear 'folk' in church growing up and it was very weak. Choirs sound best in my opinion. I can tolerate organs on a good day.

It is important to realize that church music changes pretty constantly over the years, though I imagine Baptist churches, being as they are practically brand new, haven't experienced as much change as older ones.

A note: churches once paid the finest musicians to write music for them. Now they tend to get music written by amateurs who don't write or perform for a living.

A further note: most priests are not professional music critics either.

Your main point though is whether rock is legit for church. It is. There is nothing theological that would prohibit it. The only possible objections are tradition and personal bias.

Of course Christian rock has been in churches awhile now .Bringing in younger people to a more up to date music arrangement and also Christian hard rock there is also Christian rap and hip hop if you rather hear those geners
