Very much depends on the nature and particularly the location of the tumour. Some could grow a bit without doing obvious damage to brain function (obvious is the word), depending on which part of the brain they're growing in.
However, there is not much room in the skull at all. And even less flexibility, unless there's something seriously wrong with you skull. So before affecting brain function as most people would think of it, the first symptoms are likely to be related to the build of pressure within the skull. These would be things such as headaches and blurred vision from the development of papilloedema (swelling of the optic disk as a result of intracranial pressure being transferred down the optic nerve).
Don't you listen to all the brain tumors rapping these days? They all say they are gonna live as large as they want to be...yo. MC Tumor even has a CD called: Get large or kill 'em tryin'.
I challenge anyone to find a dumber answer than this.
