I do not know who was first to use the word Troll as its used on AB.However, the word comes from a story called Three Billy Goats Gruff which was written by two Norwegians called Peter Christen Asbjornsen and Jorgen Moe.Perhaps you have heard of it?

  • You are no slower a study than most of us. The reason this is fun is because you learn a lot as you stay on here. Try just putting the word Troll in the question box and click and you'll see a lot of questions on trolls. Or you could go on the AnswerBag category and click on there and learn lots of good stuff.

You are not a slow study, it's just a matter of when an AB topic comes up & one is exposed to it. I don't know the answer, but there are a few AB veterans around that might. I'm interested in the answer as well.

When I first came to the Answerbag, I was struck by the behavior of many users who just downrated an answer and scooted away without bothering to comment. I had no idea about trolls and their trolling activities then. So I called them 'black sheep' of the Answerbag and posted a question.

    .
There was plenty of soft and heated debate and I had to explain to each one of those who answered what I meant by 'black sheep'.
It was in one of the comments threads that I learned the word troll.

No idea - the term has been around far longer than AB itself.
