Help answer this question below.
I would leave the site.
I left two other question & answer sites just because they gave fixed points per questions and answers.
Then I found answerbag.
Users rating one another is the best method for assessing participation efficiency, in my opinion.
Even getting points and new ranks fade in importance once you been here long enough. The circulation of friends is kind of emotional and what breaks people I think. Hardly any of the people are around much if at all when I first joined. What keeps me here has very little to do with points or ranks they are just too easy to gain. It is the meeting of new people and exchange of knowledge I have yet to learn that keeps my interest.
I would however like a new goal.
I'd leave immediately. I'm a grubby point whore;)
Actually, I'd like it better. There wouldn't be so many silly questions.
I'd still stay active.
Yes, I love this site and the friends I have made here. Points and levels really are insugnificant to me.
I want some kind of feedback - I don't want to think I am talking into a vacuum. But I don't particularly want to get a separate "Thanks" or similar from people who have no comment to make. Also, feedback helps: if I get lots of points, I know I phrased that one well and lots of people are interested in that subject. So some kind of points system helps - it doesn't have to be the current one. Rankings and levels are not important.
I would totally love it. I'm not competitive and I think some here are very competitive and hunger to be top/best/special/awarded/whatever. If we could remove all of that superficial stuff and just stick to talking to one another, as you and I are now doing, I'd be happy as a clam at high tide! Happy Monday! :) ((hugs))
Initially, I really enjoyed the points while I was figuring out how AB worked. Now that I have the hang of AB & have met some really wonderful people, I would stay without the points. I still enjoy the points, as it gives me an idea when people finds my answers funny or just annoying. The points help me to know where the line is located some that I can step up to & on it without wandering across too often. Levels are also usefull, especially when I was a newer ABer, as it gave an indicator of who to take seriously on AB advice. Overall, I like the points & levels, as long as ABers don't get too caught up in them or overcompetative. AB is a nice neighborhood & I wouldn't want anything to change that.
Getting rid of the points system would weed out the shameless points whores who waste space with inane questions and crowd out the interesting stuff. So, the site might improve a lot.
Well I didn't found this site for the point system, but to solve my questions !
i would still continue to use the site because i enjoy the questions and answers from the really funny ones to the extremely weird ones
The fun for me is not in points, levels, ratings or ranks.
It is with the people i interact with :)
No because I don't use this site for the points. I have met some mighty fine people here and love the camaradarie.
i would continue to use the site. i have friends, fun, support, thought provoking things happening, and i get to learn ! the only thing that would make me leave would be if they took comments section away. a wonderful question. +5
For me even though I don't really care about the points and the ranks, some of the fun it contributes to, I will miss.
No, they make it easier to keep track but I am more interested in knowing what other people are thinking and how they react to my comments. +5 for a good question.
I feel that the 'points bag' filling up almost more satisfying than if it were money.. because I know that every point that I get means that I have made someone laugh, feel better or helped them in general. It would be a great shame for me to see them go!
I don't care about points and ranks,I think what would take the fun out of this site is if they got rid of comments
As a normal human being I expect some form of appreciation of my efforts, if it is discontinued certainly I will be disappointed.
I would still stay. I actually look more forward to the comments and possibly getting into a discussion and maybe making new friend. Not to mention reading and seeing such a wide variety of different points of view on different subjects.
Yes I would still use the site. The points and ranks are alright, but they don't hold a candle to the interaction with other people from all over the world. That's what I really enjoy about this site.
I don't really care about the points. So I'd still be here. It's the debate I like, I'm afraid.
It would certainly take some fun out of it.
However, as far as the rank is concerned, I don't think that mine is going to improve a lot from now on...
I just like Answerbag as it is. But maybe some day I shall just lose interest. Maybe I would spent less time here if there were no points. I am afraid many people would leave.
I'm here STRICTLY for the communication and inter-change of thoughts! People and what they're thinking are QUITE interesting to me!
I would still use it.. but I think that would make AB kind of empty.
It also wouldn't be helpful - I guess the idea behind points (and ranks) is to show when an answer is good, and helpful - and when is completely wrong. It wouldn't be as useful, and I think it may even be counter productive. Points, ranks and down-rates almost work as a stick and carrot type thing on here.
HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY? Who knock me down level?

Ever wish you weren't at such a high level so that others won't expect so much out of you?

You're reading If AB were to remove all the point *rewards* and so called ranks would you continue to use the site or would that take the fun out of it?

At least that honestly and openly explains the kind of questions you often ask.

Now, WIS, life would be meaningless if were not being honest and open minded.
I have been asking more questions over the past few days. Before that I have been answering only for months together. It goes in cycles, I suppose.
Thanks for the points.

Since we're all revelling in each others honesty right now I gotta tell you that I have never, as far as I recall, given you any points.

Then its time you game me your points, WIS. lol.
