Question

Help answer this question below.

Remember that before the US invaded Iraq, Hussein invited Bush to have an on camera discussion, and Bush declined, everyone in the states thought it was the dumbest thing they've ever heard, why is it so stupid to talk about an issue before starting war?

He was in violation of U.N treaty, so he needed to comply. Any talking should have been with U.N representatives. His request to talk to a single leader was an attempt at putting the U.S in a defensive position, politically.

Because George W. Bush would be absolutely shit on an unscripted on-camera discussion. Even when what he has to say is scripted, he still doesn't perform very well:

PLEASE don't use language like "everyone in the states thought..." That's a horrendous and unfounded prejudice. There were many, many outspoken critics of Bush and his cronies. There are a lot of Americans who feel the same way about it as you do.

I don't remember everyone in the States ever thinking the same thing. I certainly didn't.

Actually, I believe it was 17 violations of UN mandates. So, why not post your question like this:

"I hate George W Bush, don't you agree?"

Diplomacy is not a TV Reality show.

I remember fourteen UN resolutions asking Iraq to cooperate with inspectors.

I remember congressional hearings and votes approving our actions.

I remember our invitation to Saddam to surrender his government to his subordinates.

I remember that over a dozen countries joined the US in Iraq.

I remember 180,000 dead, gassed Kurds.

I remember Saddam corrupting UN officials with the oil for food scandals.

There were many opportunities for discussion, but not all parties were agreeable in participation.
