It does. It's name is Moon (capital M); moon (lowercase m) is the general term for a smaller body that orbits a planet.

I like this answer the best - it makes more sense, but doesn't luna literally mean 'Moon" in latin?

For the same reason our sun doesn't have a name other than Sun (or the equivalent in some other language).

I've never heard anyone say, "Hey, what's that white thing in the sky at night called?" Luna, or Moon is the name. As in the Lunar surface, Lunar landing, Lunar module, Moon, or Lunar rocks, Lunar craters, etc.

The moon's name is Luna, meaning 'moon' in Latin. The sun's actual name is Sol which means 'sun'. Earth's real name is Terra and, yes, it means 'earth'. But wickedwillie is asking why doesn't our own satellite have a personal name like Europa, Io or Callisto. The name Luna just explains what it is, so what if it's Latin?
I don't know why we didn't give our planet, moon, and star a proper name. It would be cool if we did. Earth could be called Demeter or Ceres (goddess of the harvest, fertility of earth, the seasons, cycle of life and death) and the moon could be named Persephone (goddess' daughter). Just a thought.
