Puerto Rico votes down stateship on a regular basis. Right now they get all the perks without paying the taxes. They're the smart ones in all this.

What would be the point to that? If Puerto Rico wanted statehood they would have gotten it long ago.

No. Puerto Rico is in the way to be the 51st state. All the people there are preparing for that. The current governor, who support the statehood, just won the election by a voting difference not seen in 5 decades... people are, in recent years, becoming more and more pro-USA... (and I'm not even mentioning all the Puerto Ricans defending the USA values in Irak, for a President they can't vote for)...
