Question

Help answer this question below.

Ive been friends w/my bf for about 5 years.He has asked me out two times before and i said no,But i liked him.He just asked me out and I said yes.It is a big change and gonna take a little getting used to.Do you think this change is gonna work?

    This is a double edged sword and a very tough situation. There are two potential outcomes that are very dependent on the two specific people involved.

    Starting a relationship with someone who has been a long time friend can be wonderful, because you know so much about each other and you are likely to have common bonds of interest (otherwise why would you have had a five year friendship). You have already invested five years of your life into this person as a friend, so it gives you a very stable base to start a relationship. In this example, the change could definitely work.

    On the other hand, if the relationship turns sour you may find yourself having a hard time coming back to that original friendship bond that you shared before you tried dating.

    So, I would say if you are willing to try your best at making it work and also willing to risk losing the friendship if things go bad, then go for it.

    It could. I was best friends with a girl for about 3 years. Eventually, i asked her out. We got along great, as we already knew, and dated for 9 months. The problem was, by those 9 months, we had already sort of just degraded to being friends again.
