With a screw the only problem is it poking your septum while you press one nostril closed. Rings in nostrils and septums are more bothersome. But it's easy enough to take it out before you blow. I've learned to pick boogies while avoiding the jewelry.

(Septums? Septii? Someone pluralize that for me.)

my septum has been pierced for over five years, its my favorite piercing, i usually just wear a retainer, but no matter what i have in it i always remove it when i blow my nose...

i can pick my nose perfectly fine.
and i can blow it too. you develop a "technique" where you blow without squeesing your nostrils together, and whipe the balls after.
worksd like a charm.
