I spent a half hour looking at it yesterday. I was not impressed and got the feeling that it's the beginning of the end. I saw what should be considered spam, duplicates, wrong categories, wrong and vague answers, and all this from ... "Demand Media has access to an impressive array of experts and sources of information".
I really don't have a very good feeling about this. :(

If demand media has experts why do they need us? Hmmm no wonder they won't fix the glitches or anything else around here, real people can whine, however, a computer can not.

We can find that type of thing from using some of the usual and popular search engines. To me, it is a duplication of things anyone would very seldom want to know.

If I understand the blog they will be posting question which seems kind of crazy to me. The past ten questions I wanted to ask were already asked. Since we can not ask duplicate questions this seems to be something that may cause some new comers from staying around very much.

I mean if i was a new comer and asked 10 question and 9 of them were duplicates and removed I think it was boring.

As one the resident AB boneheads, it looks like a rather boneheaded idea to me. Ok, I take that back, it's more boneheaded than anything I could come up with.

I think the new concept is completely ridiculous. Part of the fun of AB is the interaction with other AB'ers. I really dont't want to joke around with a computer. Further, the computer can not provide adequate answers where additional information is gleaned through back and forth threads/comments. As for computer generated questions, isn't the computer smart enough to answer it's own question? This is simply a means by AB to raise additional revenue through advertisements. What I think what the bright minds at AB (and I use that term loosely)will find, is that patronage will decline and advertising revenues will decline accordingly. I suggest that we all simply not answer a question from "The Curious Bag" and not respond to any answers given by Official Know-it-All.

    Its ridiculous!
if they want to do that then why do they need us?
If theyre just going to ask their own questions and then go on to answer them themselves whats the point of of us as members
Grrrr I vote they be removed

Personally I'm not impressed at all. Maybe they started this to cause us that are reaching higher levels and those that have gone on to 100 and above to want to fade away, in hopes that a bunch of newbies will join and not realize what fun this place use to be and how information is now passed on to folks though comments, interaction etc.
Some how just reading what the computer answer is just isn't the same, the flavor for friendship and personal touch is gone. if I just wanted a cold impersonal answer I can go google it.....

Yes. Luckily I was sitting with my friend The Barf Bag which helped me get through it. I think AB is peeing on our leg and telling us it's raining;)

    Jadey - Vive la difference

I've seen some of the Q&A's, yup =) This isn't to improve Answerbag, or make it more useful - it is to get more people to click on a google link, up the visitors and bring them in more money.

Looking through some of the Curious Bag questions and the answers in response - I am unimpressed, to be honest. The questions are duplicates, the answers are vague and unhelpful, generic. Unlikely to be of any use in the real world (there will always be follow up questions needed since the questions include none of the other important factors which may need to be explored, and the answer provides only a basic answer.. with no inclusion of other factors) Other questions, I can find the answer to the second I type it in google.

Like I say, I doubt there were any intentions to improve the quality of the site (which, judging by the quality of Q&As, it won't). It is just money making.

I don't like it. One of the things I like about AB is getting different views and perspectives from a variety of people. Maybe give people the option of going directly to the know it all if they really can't find an answer, but it should be done outside of the AB forum.

I haven't until now. While I see their point, I think that most ABers would rather not have them doing that.

I posted this answer to a similar question on the same two AB users.
    .
'At the most it could be called 'The curious case of the question bag trying to contain the Answerbag with the help of a know it all".
I see from the profiles that they are not in this for the points. Who said staff can't have fun?...'
    .
In the comments under the answer I wrote this:
    .
'I flagged a few questions by CB for wrong category and added a comment or two under the answers by OKIA. I find points do get posted on the answers.
I found many questions have already been flagged for wrong category by other users.
But I must admit the questions and answers are very informative, to say the least.
If this is an initiative by AB to educate the users as to how to use the site for dissemination of information, I very much welcome it.'
    .
    http://www.answerbag.com/a_view/7305986
    .
I stand by the same opinion expressed in my above answer and comment.

I just looked at the questions and answers there. Blatant spamming. What happened to this? http://www.answerbag.com/blog/comments/200

    This is a horrible idea.

I wonder what would happen if we all reported them as spam or down rated the questions and answers?

I don't understand the question , sorry - - Is this referring to the irritating answers that pop up in totally unrelated questions and they want you to link you to some "great footwear" or " how to make some money on the Internet "?

    From the blog we read:

"Very soon you'll be seeing two new characters, Curious Bag (the asker) and Know-it-All (the answerer). Since Demand Media has access to an impressive array of experts and sources of information, this should be an intriguing addition."

I'd say let's give Curious and KnowitAll a chance.
