  • the problem with this is that no one supply can replace oil Ethanoyl was a bust wind generation is being put into question, it may adversely affect bees and bats, and birds, and needs a grage full of batteries to work properly, not to mention the start up cost solar and wave energy is the only sources that aren't in question, but they tech doesn't exist to meet energy needs that we have now oil is a devil in a blue dress, but it is very hard to replace we can balme our oil dependence on any pol. pr buisness we want but the truth is if we want to end oil dependancy we need to look in the mirror
  • Other then nuclear energy there is no clear alternative to oil and coal for power. To cut off oil production in the hope that something will jump out of the mix to replace it is just wrong. Since there is no allowance for nuclear power developement, the road to oil and coal free power sources is a dead end. When the morning comes after oil and coal power is eliminated from the mix, we will flip the light switch and there will be no light. When police stand guard at every intersection to stop gasoline cars and allow only electric, there will nobody show up for work except police. On that day will the liberals who wish us well find out how dangerously stupid they are. It will sound vaguely familiar to them too, since they have been warned already.
  • Not until all the oil supplies run out and even then, the bastards are beginning to exploit the sand tar pits in Canada which will destroy eveything in sight. The oil companies make entirely too much money to let anything else like alternative energy get in the way and cut into their profits. They'll do whatever it takes to prevent that even go to war as evidenced by the current situation in the ME
  • Someone needs to pull static electricity out of the air. That would do it, too bad I'm not able to.
  • First of all, recessiion means people spending less, buying less, driving less, etc., which alters peoples' mode of more=success thinking. Same as 'green'ing society's consciousness. 'Green' is now 'hip' so it becomes a trend of fashion rather than enforcement, I.e. government enforced rationing etc as went on during WW2 which afterward just resulted in the most gluttonous culture perhaps in American history: the 1950s: big cars, big steaks, big consumption. A result in part also of a clear V for VICTORY in ww2. To the victors go the spoils. And then the victors are spoiled! A good reason that this current war won't really have a clear-cut end or victory, just resentment of war in general and a general guilt of consumption. Also I think key will be taking the prohibition from hemp and marijuana. Removal of prohibition from alcohol lifted the country's spirits (har) during/after the depression. Same will be now, as the country strains under recession and conservation, it will provide needed release. And then also hemp is a much more viable ethanol grain compared to corn. Corn is MUCH less efficient in terms of use per acre, including the multitude of uses for hemp compared to corn, including animal feed, which corn is primarily used for now. And then marijuana can increase tax income like crazy when sold legally. On top of that I think the bankrucy of the auto industries was really key in our oil habit reductions although it is generally played off in the media as part of "failing economy" it was akin to a drug intervention in immediately cutting off a supply. And then it will provide time for retooling the entire industry to make vehicles more ethanol/elcetric friendly.. And on top of that as well I feel we're on the verge of finding an entirely new sort of energy source. Wave power was mentioned. Maybe harnessing the very pull of the moon. Maybe harnessing plate tectonic pull (imagine that torque). High elevation tubes that allow the frigid air at extreme heights to drop down rapidly through turbines. Kite turbines that are also at extreme elevations... Who knows but this oil BS is on its way out. Running on empty. Our trend of conservation has given the ME a jolt I'm sure and having Obama elected will do wonders for quelling the ME when these issues start hitting them bigtime. They have no other means of income over there really, much, (ME is Middle East by the way) other than some mining and things. Not much grows in desert. Anyway
