Question

Help answer this question below.

Ok, I dont know if I am being paranoid. But I have 3 budgies. My oldest is 4 years old. I have noticed that he isnt as active as he usually is. like going outside of the cage with the other two when he usually does. yesterday it was a beautiful sunny day

It could be a competition thing or... Are you sure he is actually a he? Possibly another alternative? Anyway, I have 4 dogs, and I KNOW when one is acting unusual, no matter what anyone tells me. So I suggest you go with your instincts. Give it a day or two, and see what happens. When I'm not actually sure if something is wrong, I tend to give my animals a day or two, see if it gets better or worse, and then decide from there. But life has taught me one thing, and that is to go with my instincts. They are there for a reason...

- OK i just realized that this post was written in MARCH! I'm sure the budgie emergency is way past. Other than feeling really stupid for not checking the date before I bothered to post, I also hope the good ole birdie is alive and doing well. So let me know if you're still around buttercuplover!

- LOL thank you so omuch for answering me, and yes my lil buddy is stil around tere was some bullying going on and they seemed to work it out. all 3 of them are doing there thing and causing lots of trouble together:) So its all good. but thnx for taking the time to answer me. WE appreciate it!

- Geez if little budgies can't get along there just is no hope for us at all is there! :) I'm glad to here he's doing ok.
  You could always try what I do when my dogs start bullying each other, I yell "Be Nice!" and then break up the fight. It doesn't always work but my husband thinks me screaming be nice is pretty funny. Although I think breaking up a bird fight might actually be more complicated, they're so much more gentle.
  Good luck, maybe you could get the little guy some birdie barbells so he can bulk up or something ;)

It might be a good idea to take him to the vet, you have to remember that when they are in the wild, they cannot let other animals know or see that they are sick. If they do then they will become dinner for them. So by the time that we SEE that they are sick, sometimes it is almost too late to help them. But not always, I have had many birds survive, so do not give up hope. Take him to the vet.

In captivity, budgies tend to live between 5 to 8 years with well-cared for birds living as long as 15. Your budgie is getting old in budgie terms.

I'd keep an eye on him and take him to the vet if it continues.

- do u think it could be becasue one of the other birds wont let him ontop of the cage anymore. I see them quarrell a lot but they dont fight to the death and they seem to get along sometimes. Coud just maybe he doesnt feel like fighting with the other budgie that bosses him around?
