Once you have been exposed there is nothing you can do. Whether or not you develop an actual infection now depends on your immune system, specifically whether or not you have antibodies against the particular strain which you have been exposed to. It may help your system to fight it if you can avoid stress, eat correctly and get plenty of rest.
I had it a lot growing up, tho no one else in the family did. I would avoid drinking after the infected person and take the usual precautions..washing hands, spraying Lysol, etc. May or may not help, but it wouldn't hurt.
Wash your hands often when you are around people with colds or viral or bacterial illnesses. Do not share toothbrushes or eating and drinking utensils.
Bacteria are almost always transmitted by contact with tiny droplets from an infected person. Strep throat is passed from one person to another by contact with the tiny droplets of an infected person's cough, sneeze, or breath.
Bacteria can also live for a short time on doorknobs, water faucets, and other objects. If you touch an infected object and then touch your eyes, nose, or mouth, you can become infected with the bacteria or virus.
Bacteria can also be carried on food.
Keep up your body's resistance to infection with a good diet, plenty of sleep, and regular exercise. Managing stress can also strengthen your body's ability to fight off illness, such as strep throat.
Take a high-strength garlic pill daily (available from health stores) you daughter too, boosts the immune system
I got strep throat every year for about 10 years; no one else in my family ever got it though. I think you have to be susceptible to it to catch it. It's not like catching the flu. Minimum precautions should do the trick.
have and your family gargle with Grapefruit Seed Extract. 2-3 drops in 5 ounces of water 2x's per day. okay to swallow
