Can you fail a suicide attempt by handgun? Im planing to blow my brains out and want to know the chance of sucess, its a .38 special.

There is an inherent risk of failure with all suicides and a significant chance of excruciating pain in the process.

People have attempted shooting, hanging, throwing themselves in front of trains etc. (supposedly fatal methods) only to find themselves disfigured, disabled or brain damaged.

Give it up! You want to commit suicide? Why? Your life could not be that bad! There is a 100% chance that you will fail. I am 16 years old and I do not like the fact that there is someone who wants to kill themself... Get counseling. Tell someone. There are people who care. Like me! Go to the police station and tell them! Just do not do it!

well if you truly want to kill yourself you will be the steadiest you have ever been. but if you have doubts that this is the ultimate answer to all your problems you will save yourself without even realizing it. your hand will jerk at the last moment or something. you will "accidently" leave the safety on. the gun wont be properly cleaned so it will jam. all of these things will seem accidental. but your just making a cushion of doubt.

you have a 19 percent chance of just making a sunlite in your head if the bullet goes in about 5 inches behind your temple exact . also the front part of your head is the strongest so i guess though i shouldnt be saying this the back of the head is the best place for all your membrain an central nervous system runs up threw there. but i urge u to sleep on it because once done you can never go back

What about a 357? I have thought about it a few times and I can't decide if I should use my 357. I also have a 38 and plenty of bullets in both calibers. I hear a shotgun works well but that seems real difficult. I've considered many methods over the years from pills, to throwing myself in the river when it's 20 degrees outside. Who knows, maybe I'll hang around and see if things get better. As long as they keep sellling beer I'll be here!
