The city of Veii, an Etruscan city located in the south of Etruria, just north of Rome, was besieged and captured by the Romans. What makes it interesting is that their Etruscan compatriots to the north had at least six years to come to the aid of the Veientines, and they would have likely defeated the Romans if they had, and then it's possible that Rome would not have grown to power in Italy in the face of an alliance of the Etruscan cities. But they did nothing, and instead Veii was captured, and after that all the other Etruscan cities were captured. How unfortunate for them.
