Police Officers are your family, your friends and your neighbors. They are the security guard at your local grocery store or at Wrigley Field when they are off duty, working a second job. They are your child's baseball coach. They are a concerned parent on the local school council. They are the neighbor across the street painting the house or washing the car or mowing the lawn.
Most people only meet the police in very negative and stressful situations, being the victim of a crime, victim of a traffic accident, or perhaps when committing a minor violation. There are seldom happy memories of interacting with police. Even when they are helping you or a loved one, it is often because of some horrific event. It is understandable. Try to have a little faith in people, and that goes for your local police officers as well. They are trying hard to manage the most unpleasant situations imaginable.

over paid egotistical pains in the asses IN MY CITY. When I went on vacation recently though I was impressed with what I saw. They deserved my respect.
