Help answer this question below.
no lol it means he is trying to warn you or whoever that he sense danger or somethign that everyone needs to be aware of. In the wild. rabbits thumps when they sense danger to the other rabbits so they run and hide in their holes for safety. also, a rabbit thumps sometimes when they are angry or dont want to be bothered. Hope this helps.
It is usually saved for when a rabbit is being upset by something. It vibrates on the ground, waring other rabbits that something may be amiss. Like if you bring a stranger around, he may stomp or if there is a new rabbit around or a piece of furniture in your home. It is also used when they are sexually excited as bucks often do it when you have placed a doe in their cage. Does do it when they are a bit upset about the buck.
What I found:
Rabbits mount for two reasons: either to mate, or to express dominance. If an unfixed male mounts an unspayed female, you can be certain that they are mating. Even males that are fixed will often mount unspayed females. Usually if a female is spayed and the male is neutered, the mounting will stop as the male loses interest in the female sexually.
But why do females mount males? Or why do two rabbits of the same sex mount? They are expressing dominance, and usually after the alpha bunny has made it clear that he/she is in charge, the mounting stops.
An intact male rabbit may hump his owner's leg, arm, or anything within reach. A humping toy may be provided to alleviate some of these sexual frustrations. A recommended "humping toy" is a fleece stuffed dog toy. These are machine washable and are available in the dog toy area of most pet stores.
OH MAN! sorry i meant leg.... lol
When i rabbit is thumping their leg, it means its threatening something. When i put a mature rabbit with my 2 new bunnies, she was thumping her leg to say " this is my territory" or something like that.
when a rabbit thumps his hind legs, it means it,s very content,,,,This is good.
It mean he or she is neavous or scared. If you put a new rabbit with her/him she/he will do this for awhile tell they get to know each other.
That means, you're about to get bit, if you keep messing with him..
Bunnies do this to inform other bunnies this is my territory as they need to be territorial to survive because their food takes a long time to grow and is very low in nutrition. Another bunny encroaching on their food supply may not be good for survival such that first there is a warning then a fight may ensue if they find each other I have seen in the past with my males such that I had to separate them when they got older. They also communicate with each other this way from what I have figured out. Also they do it to find other bunnies such as a mate. When I take a bunny out from it's mate often they will thump for each other for awhile until I return them or they adjust to being separated. Sometimes they never stop. I can drop wood outside on other wood for it to start off a round of thumping by the bunnies who respond to it as a thump.
can you explain what you mean by "thumps his name"?
