Lol... Haven't you ever noticed that whatever you type anywhere online... Somewhere on that same page a directly related pop-up add shows on the left or right?
Sometimes floating directly across the screen?
Good luck using a computer and NOT being monitored in some way.
Stop doing things you don't want people knowing about... Chances are... They already know!
Throw it out a second story window
I really don't think you have anything to worry about, because law enforcement has too many folks to watch as it is, without spying on INNOCENT citizens.
If they SUSPECTED you of doing something bad, then they might want to spy on you, but as long as you are "below their radar," they will leave you totally alone, just as they leave me totally alone.
You have nothing to fear, at all.

CC cleaner is good and can be downloaded free
CCleaner is the software I use to clean my history its freeware as well.

Erasing the info from your drive won't stop law enforcement or a dedicated hacker, though a hacker would have to *really* have it in for you to go through the hassles and legal risks of getting into the right systems to get that info.
Your ISP knows your surfing history, at least for the recent past. Anybody who can get those records, whether by subpoena or by cracking, can see where you've been.
The same applies to your e-mail. Look at what happened to Sarah Palin, and remember that most ISPs and other e-mail providers tend to cooperate with official investigations.
And even wiping the drive may not do much good. Computer forensics people have mad skillz and the better funded ones (like the NSA) have access to really neat toys that can recover even a wiped disc. That is why many companies who deal with sensitive info do a thorough job of physically destroying the drive. Platters can be read; shards can't.
Now for the good news :)
Chances are that the government doesn't give a rat's ass about you. There is a LOT of traffic on the internet and they can't monitor it all.
As for less official intruders, the risk/return ratio isn't that great on hacking individuals and the skills, time, and effort required would mean that you would need to make some hefty enemies in order for someone to hack that info out of your system.
So basically the only way to get at that info, assuming you have a properly configured security setup, is to physically access your system. How many people come into your house?
*** 29 Jul 09 - Response to barbiedoll;
The first thing to realize is that the weakest link in any security setup is the wetware; the peoples. Hackers and crackers do their damndest to exploit weaknesses in anything. Therefore, it follows that they will exploit people. (Crackers do it for gain while hackers do it just because they can, but hackers care more about getting in than about what is inside.)
For instance, you would be amazed how many sysadmins leave some of their passwords as the factory default. If one knows what make a particular piece of 'ware is, there are lists of the default username/passwords out there that grant root access all too often because someone was too naive or just plain lazy to change it. That is exploiting the stupidity of others.
The way they hack into systems most of the time is to watch a system and try to reverse-engineer the minds of the people who operate it. If they know the names of someone's spouse and kids, they have a fairly good chance of guessing the password on many systems. Or maybe they scout an office, notice that a certain person has pictures of motorcycles in their cube, and guesses their password is HARLEY. That is exploiting the predictability of others.
You want to know their ways? That is a start. Try "The Art of Intrusion" by Kevin Mitnick for more info.
Oh, you don't have to worry. Believe me, look at me, do I look like I'm afraid, there is a much higher network of powerful. If you don't believe me, I can tell about that to you in private. With proof of course.
By the way, why do you wanna do such thing?
May peace be upon you sis! :-)
to physically clear the hard drive of the data, breaking will not help, instead moving it through a magnetic field will do. Or bombarding it with high particle radiation etc or burning it :-) but you might not want to waste the drive, so simply :-) break its partition table, rebuild partitions and then format each one. This is how you may do it. :-)
Physically breaking the hard drive is your best bet but I suspect that could be beaten if they really wanted that info.
I think it will be impossible to erase all your activities on the internet.
Even if you delete all data from your hard disk your browser, email services and search engines will have records of what you have been doing.
The best thing to do is to stay clean and do nothing objectionable from your own or other computers when accessing the internet.

You're being a little paranoid aren't you?
Unless you're a terrorist or career criminal, it is highly unlikely that the authourities will want to bother looking at your PC.

You're reading How do I get my computer to erase everything that I want it to: history, sites I've been to, my e-mail address account knowledge, everything? I don't like it the fbi, police or anyone else can go in and find information that I do not choose to share.

Thanks for the warning and I've never done anything like that. I've just decided that if I wouldn't want my ex to see anything, then I certainly wouldn't want the world to. I wouldn't want my parents to see what I input on answerbag. I'm tired of our justice system invading people's lives whether they are guilty of whatever or not, and having access to their information, and doing with it what they want, and drawing the conclusions they want. Probably by asking this question, there is some superspy out there all paranoid and needs to check up on me now.

Never done anything like what?

My ex is on here looking at everything I say... This is where he has always gotten his information from rather than actually asking me himself.
by Go know thyself is THE RED QUEEN on July 28th, 2009
It's why I say half the shit I do. He has always been great at believing what he wants to believe to justify his actions.
by Go know thyself is THE RED QUEEN on July 28th, 2009
No, I'm pretty goodie two shoes. But you did make me laugh about what you're doing and your ex. I think I had enough of all of this when the cops invaded the properties of the dr of MJ two times now, and they got his medical files. They didn't mention that they could also have gotten somebody else's medical files. I've known dirty cops and what they'll do. I want to separate myself from those kind of people if I can. A side note: at work, my boss can view your e-mails any time on their own computer. I started getting up to 800 a day of spam. IT wouldn't fix it. So I didn't care if she wanted to dig thru all of that for personal ones the way I had my SPAM fixed. I had not written any personal ones to that date. I KNEW she was not on my computer.

Never say anything on a computer that you wouldn't say to someone face.
Like to my ex... Your GF is a dirty whore and you suck!
by Go know thyself is THE RED QUEEN on July 28th, 2009
Ah, but we talk about him at times. He pretty uncontrollable if said to his face. And he's on a protection order. I want some freedom to do just that on the computer.
