If you do not believe that the virgin Mary was Jesus's biological mother, do you still pray to her? If so, why do you direct your prayers towards the virgin Mary? [Please also comment if you believe that the virgin Mary *was* Jesus's biological mother.]

I do believe that Mary is the biological mother of Jesus. I do not pray to her due to the fact that as a Methodist we believe that because Jesus died on the cross so that we can pray through Him to God, that Jesus intercedes for us to His Father.

I know that Catholics pray to the Virgin Mary. I don't know if any other Christian denominations do. Please note I have no problem, only respect for Catholics. As I have stated many times-we wouldn't know the real truth till Jesus comes again.

Great question. I hope this helps your inquiry.

    God Bless,

I do believe that the Virgin Mary was Jesus' biological mother. I didn't realize that there were (Christian) people who didn't. However, if they still pray to her, I would assume it is because they do believe that she was important in his life. The reason people pray to Mary is because they hope that she will listen and intercede for us to Jesus himself. After all, who can deny what their mother asks? So if they still pray to Mary (even if they don't believe she was his mother) they must still think that she is important enough for Jesus to listen to her. Make sense? I might be waaaay off. If possible, please fill me in on who these people are that you're asking about. Thanks!

**EDIT** Ok, I see the previous question now....but I think my answer still stands.

No, I don't think there was any Mary, I mean, not in the sense that you people think of her. Sure, there was probably some teenage girl way back in the day who got knocked up by the hot dog vendor down the corner and married some other sucker and made up the whole god thing to throw off her parents, new sucker husband and every other idiot on town but that is as far as the story goes

I believe that Mary was the mother of Jesus Christ. As a christian I pray to Jesus, who goes to the Father in my behalf. No where in the bible did It ever say you had to pray to Mary. Mary died along time ago, and was human just like us. Mary was called Blessed, because she carried baby Jesus inside of her whom was the Son of God.

...trust in the Lord Jesus Christ.

The Bible never commands or teaches us to pray to the Virgin Mary. That is a heretical teaching! For more information on that and on more idolatry in Roman Catholicism, please go to this: http://www.jesus-is-savior.com/False%20Religions/Roman%20Catholicism/catholic_idols.htm

I hope that this is helpful.

Yes, the virgin Mary is the mother of Jesus. I do not pray to her or through her though, as The Holy Bible says, we should only pray to God in The Name of His Son Jesus Christ. I do respect Mary as the mother of Jesus.

Jesus is the mother of Jesus, who is the earthy manifestation of the living god...you must not pray to mary as it is a sin to pray to anyone but God.

A very late comment as I've just seen this post by 'accident'. a well known Preacher was in the presence of three devout Catholic ladies. they were going on about praying to Mary and how wonderful she was. He didn't want to offend them. Instead, he was inspired to say "If you love and respect Mary so much, why not use her as an example and pray like Mary prayed!" They asked him how that was; he said "She prays to her Son Jesus!!". The word went around - "Let's start praying like Mary prayed!" - so now they show her respect by emulating her - and praying directly to Jesus Christ!.

I fully respect everything you've put here, '...trust in...', and I woould also add that i see no sign of 'hatred and lies' in what you say. I pray that 'daisymae19' finds revelation about this apparent paranoia that anyone who isn't Catholic is doing satans work!

I'm not sure it's disputed that Mary is considered the biological mother of Jesus. While she conceived God's child and was impregnated, if you will, by an angel she still birthed Jesus and so would be considered the biological parent. Joseph, on the other hand, would not be considered the biological father.

I believe that it's physically impossible for a virgin to be anyone's mother, scriptures notwithstanding...if she was, in fact, the Nazarene's mother, then she was no virgin...since I am Jewish, I don't pray to any human entity, live or legendary...

I believe that Mary was Jesus's biological mother because I believe what the bible says. I do not pray to her nor do I speak to her, for her to pray on my behalf.
I have a personal relationship with Jesus, I feel that I can pray directly to him because he said that I could. Jesus also stated that he was going to go be with his father but he was leaving the holy spirit here in his place to teach and lead us in all things. Therefore if I feel that I need help with my prayers I ask the holy spirit like Jesus told me to do.
Praying to the dead is strictly forbidden in the Bible. Deuteronomy 18:11 tells us that anyone who “consults with the dead” is “detestable to the Lord.”

nobody prays TO the Virgin Mary. Catholics speak to Mary and ask her to pray for us because we believe she is alive in heaven and that Jesus continues to love and respect her in heaven just as he did on earth. Just as I ask my friends to pray for me I also ask Mary to do the same. If you look at the words of the Hail Mary you will see it is not a prayer to her..but a request of prayer from her

Holy Mary, mother of God, Pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death...

i believe for a fact that mary was jesus biological mother! she must have been a most examplary of women for Jehovah God to have chosen her to give birth to his Son. she no doubt had many fine qualities that made her an excellent woman and mother. for a fact that she and joseph did a fine job in raising and looking after the Son of God. however, this does not mean that praying to mary is acceptable in God's eyes. 1timothy 2:5,6 says: "for there is one God and ONE mediator between God and men, A man(doesn't say woman as in mary)Christ Jesus, who gave himself a corresponding ransom for ALL...)for more information go to www.watchtower.org

It is SO EASY to find true Catholic teachings on-line, on Catholic websites that one should be extremely suspicious of those who use any other "source" other than the Catholic church to "teach" what Catholics believe. Usually these bearers of false witness are bitter, angry and members of low fringe sects.

Actually, I believe that Mary was Jesus' birth mother. I leave it to theologians to figure out if God chose to spiritually impregnated her through her own ovum, or to do the spiritual equivalent of an embryo implant. The answer is way over my pay grade.

Daisymae God bless you , I encourage you to read HEBREWS especially Chapter 4. Jesus is our ONE High Priest, He identifies with our weaknesses and is the ONLY representative we need or should have in Heaven. We don't NEED to pray through or to ANYONE else! We are to go boldly to the Throne Room and cry 'ABBA' Father, who we address through Jesus Christ and Him alone. God the Father is our LOVING Father, He LOVES to have His children round his knees!! Jesus is our ONE representative - He was the one prefect sacrifice that paid the ENTIRE price for our sin so there is now therefore NO condemnation for those who are in Christ! NO need for penances or intercessors.Jesus (who would have been addressed by Mary, the mother of his physical (only) body, would have called him Yeshuha) is the only one in qualified and in place to be our One High Priest. There IS nothing else Biblical.

If Jesus actually existed, I wouldn't be surprised if Mary was his mother, but she sure as hell wasn't a virgin at the time of birth. Anyone with any common sense knows that. I used to pray on my knees like a sucker. Now I stand on two feet, sending out positive and negative energy wherever I want.

I'll answer your question with a question:

How could the creator be created by the created, Mary? And just as a container holds water and that water is no part of that container. Mary's body held the body of the Christ-child, but Jesus was pure and sinless, and in no way could the pure Son of God take on her sinfulness. So there is no way could Mary be the biological mother of Jesus. He, Jesus never became sin, but took on the sins of all man-kind.

I do believe that she was Jesus’ biological mother, but I do not pray to her; I only pray to my Heavenly Father and hers (who also happens to double as Jesus’ biological father).

I only pray to god. it is meaningless to pray someone created by god.
Praying to Mary is like waiting for a judgement from the janitor of the courthouse.
