because michael was a bigger star then they were I guess. micheal was one on the bigger people in money wise and people are obviously feeling guilty of the critisizing him and putting him down.
Michael touched lives more recently than Farrah and Billy. Music can go everywhere you go, but television cannot. Hence, Michael lived your life with you in more places.
Farrah's heyday was in the 70's. She was HUGE!!! And, she was worth all the attention she got. She also had a SERIOUS talent for dramatic acting, as evidenced in The Burning Bed. But, that was also one of her final roles. Later on, she became infamous for her irratic behavior, particularly one instance on the David Letterman show. Getting naked, rolling around in paint, and wallowing around on a canvas didn't help endear her to the masses.
As for Billy, he did a brilliant job, segwaying his voice into nationwide infomercials. I would be remiss if I didn't also add that his screeching at people, though effective in selling products, did little to further his popularity as a household name. To the contrary, it probably kept him from branching his career into additional venues. +5
Hi Natedawg, when you grow up maybe you will understand to give a little respect to people that have passed away. I'm not trying to be a bad ass but you ARE making fun of them. They have family and friends that would be offended. MJ was in his own league, we all know that. Comparing them is not fair. You DRing me is no problem to me because I don't care about points. I might chill when you get a clue
Maybe those who critisized/judged him are now feeling guilty.... Most likely, i'd say it was because he was such a great performer, wonderful spirit, etc. +5
Because they could not do the moonwalk.
Michael Jackson is a pop icon which almost always trumps everyone else, no matter what they did. Billy Mays and Farah Fawcett are two.
It is just that this culture is obsessed with pop icons. I, for one, do not understand it.
I took this a bit further:
"If Mother Theresa, Gandhi, Rosa Parks, or another person of that caliber died at the same time as Michael Jackson, who do you think would get more media attention, more attention overall, and why?"

I also, for the record, have a problem that a pop icon gets more respect than, say, a policeman, firefighter, soldier, etc. who died in the call of duty.
c'mon now, MJ was the king of pop, he made thriller!
I don't know how many products Farah and Billy have compared to Michael Jackson...
but I'm sure Michael has more memorabilia than either of them.
Plus, Michael had a larger audience, he was famous in SO many countries and famous on a VERY big scale compared to Farah and Billy.
I think Farah's focus towards the end of her life was more on getting awareness for anal cancer(the cancer she died of) out in the open.
My mother talked about how her brother had Farah's poster hung up in his room and how that poster is iconic. I'm sure the sales for that especially have gone up for Farah.
Billy Mays marketed a lot of different products, but I think the one I know him and lots of people know him best for is Oxyclean.. which my family has always bought occasionally.
So, it might also be that Michael is getting more publicity than the other two... I have noticed when I've gone in the store that there are a LOT of Michael Jackson poster and other things out, but I haven't seen a Farah Foster poster. I'm sure it's being sold other places, though, and that people are buying it.
And OxyClean and Billy Mays products will be around for a LONG time and will continue to be bought long after the news and shock of Michael Jackson's death has died out and people become less interested in buying his CD's and posters. Plus, the things Billy Mays marketed are more universal and more people can buy them. Everyone has clothes that need to be washed and cleaned, but not everyone is a fan of Michael Jackson.
That is so rude, you can talk about Michael Jackson all you want but leave Farah and Billy out of it. we are talking apples and oranges here
MJ is a world wide celebrity and has a much bigger following than any 10 celebs combined is all.
MJ was murdered. that makes him special.
because Fawcett and Mays were not the "King of Pop"
Why is Billy Mays still yelling at me from the grave? I keep seeing commercials featuring him. Do you think it seems disrespectful for companies to keep running his commercials after his death?

Do you think it is right to still show comercials with Billy Mays in them? I think there should be some respect for the dead.

You're reading Michael Jackson recently died, incase you didn't know, and now his products are skyrocketing, why aren't Billy Mays or Farah Fawcett products doing the same?

I think this is a good answer. The asker didn't make a judgement on MJ but asked a question to better understand why the death of one famous person caused a different reaction than the death of other famous people.
