this is "3 plum jam" - i found the plums in the woods where i walk - the area was inhabited from 1900-1950 and then returned to "nature" when the new town was built. So in the woods are now the footprints of the houses that were built in the early part of last century - most of the houses have gone now, but the fruit trees remain - now surrounded by wildlife. If you know where to look, you can get a lot of free food! So today I got 3 types of plums - later I will get apples, blackberries, and hazlenuts!

What fun! We're surrounded by wild berry bushes and vines of all kinds, like blueberries, huckleberries, blackberries, raspberries(black and red) dewberries, strawberries, currants, elderberries, and others. And then there are wild black cherries which make a nice wine, not much pulp on them. And there are also old apple trees most of the old heirloom varieties throughout the forest. I agree, wild foods are terrific to have. It's fun exploring the woods and finding new caches of food, a new tree I hadn't seen before and other goodies :-)

No lost beef running around? LOL! We've got grouse, turkeys and deer, but they are pretty scarce. And those dairy cows down the hill don't look very juicy :-)

not much in the way of wild food here - and I wouldnt have the ability to hunt for it - that takes guns and stuff - so i will stick with my foraging :)
