Not at all. Firstly, it is far, far in the future. Secondly, it is unlikely to have any direct effect on the Earth, othere than producing a more interesting night sky.

Well... it's predicted to happen in about 3 billion years, and humanity's only existed for about 200 thousand year. I think it's safe to say that we have other problems to worry about in the meantime. One of the indeterminate aspects of the Andromeda Galaxy's approach is its tangential velocity (a doppler shift cannot measure that), and it's too far away to get a good approximation (the distance scales would imply that a very "small" tangential velocity would still yield a miss). Just in case, I think the EU space program sent a probe which might give some useful information at some point in the future.

I am shocked, SHOCKED at the caviler attitude being shown towards future generations. I guess this is just another liberal stick-it-to-the-children scheme for a generation TOO SELFISH to do something about the coming disaster of galactic proportions. The science is solid, people!
    .
Three billion years will be over before you know it and then the bill comes due.
    .
People like Im Alec are OBVIOUSLY in the pay of Andromedan special interest groups: their science is corrupted by money.
    .
If we don't act now, future generations will perish! Do it for...the children.

Why would it? Its supposed to happen billions of years from now. None of us will be here to even care.

No. Most of each galaxy is actually empty space, so nothing will truly "collide."

Not in the slightest - I learned a long time ago to worry about things like that, over which I can have no control, is complete waste of energy.

    It doesn't really worry me.
We will succeed in destroying our Earth making it uninhabitable long before the Galaxies collide.
