There's a separation between church and state. But should there be a separation between state and entertainment, such as music and movies being involved with politics?

    Not to me.
Movies in general would lack countless interesting, even great stories without those types of films(documentaries, or other)
I guess it's up to each viewer to make up his/her mind about them and decide if they saw a good movie whether it fits with their political views or not.

Well it depends on the seriousness of the movies, such as the state must have been involved in Michael Moore's films, as they were talking about serious stuff and showing incredible images that the US did not want shown.

no, definitely not .... its part of freedom of speech

btw, separation of church and state was not meant to keep god(s) out of government, it was originally intended to keep the government out of the churches

There is no official involvement of the entertainment industry in politics. Movies, TV and music merely reflect the state of society and and commenting on the political climate is inevitable. The entertainment industry has no official capacity in determining political policy. People are free to comment, criticize and suggest change. To make it illegal to do so would be to violate the right of free speech.

Absolutely not. Enforcing such a rule would be a far worse interference of politics in entertainment than whatever grievance you may have with Al Gore's film. It's a film; if you don't fancy it, don't go to see it. That is freedom of speech.

I think if a movie or song is going to reveal important, secretive info about the gov't that could potentially put the nation in danger from our enemies, then it shouldn't be allowed.

otherwise, just leave it alone. Free speech. People should and can say what they want about the government.

But isn't that a principle foundation of America? A government of the people, by the people. We all get a say in how things are run, whether it's through contributions, volunteering, voting or writing a song or movie. Unlike many countries, we have the freedom -- some would say the duty -- to monitor and critique our government. If you don't like what a particular group is doing, vote or get involved to put another opinion out there.

When I saw Emmenem's video "Mosh" I almost threw up.

Or the Dixi Chicks BS with their video they are coming out with, and how they use their fame to get people to diss-like Bush (even though people already do).

Or Al-Gore's video on global warming, keep that stuff on the discovery channal dang it.

And now American Idol has become so big that they are moving towrds political issues.

They just keep doing all these things to build up their wallets, not so much that they really believe in everything that's going on in the world.
