    There is an interdimentional portal. Another you in a different universe is wanting bread at the same time you are wanting toast. It's transferred via the toaster. In the other universe they call it a breader.
    I actually did a study and found evidence that a toaster is a miniature stargate. I'll summarize for you.
    Stargates take an enormous amount of energy. Enormous amounts of energy produce lots of heat. Have you ever put your hand on the toaster while its turned on? Point in case!

    It's recycled. Sliced bread is simply repacked, and will arrive in the shops once again. Non-sliced is taken to the factory and melted down to form new loaves.
