No, even though drinking alcohol is basically forbidden under Sharia law through the Koran. The punishment is disproportionate with the crime. But this is the same sort of messed up interpretation that treats rape without sufficient witnesses as adultery and punishable by death.

No, it's evil. Unfortunately it's a religion so it's difficult to change it.

    Yes

it's consider (one) of the greatest sins

Islam didn't forbid drinking in direct way but it was forbiden gradually in three stages..because it was dificul to Mohammed to say to his friend (don't drink at all) because they used to do before Islam

    3 stages to forbid drinking

    1)
2:219 ((They ask you (O Muhammad SAW) concerning alcoholic drink and gambling. Say: "In them is a great sin, and (some) benefit for people, but the sin of them is greater than their benefit." ))

    2)
4:43((O you who believe! Approach not As-Salat (the prayer) when you are in a drunken state until you know (the meaning) of what you utter,))

    3)
5:90-91 ((O you who believe! Intoxicants (all kinds of alcoholic drinks), gambling, Al-Ansab, and Al-Azlam (arrows for seeking luck or decision) are an abomination of Shaitan's (Satan) handiwork. So avoid (strictly all) that (abomination) in order that you may be successful...Shaitan (Satan) wants only to excite enmity and hatred between you with intoxicants (alcoholic drinks) and gambling, and hinder you from the remembrance of Allah and from As-Salat (the prayer). So, will you not then abstain? ))

when the this verse was revealed .. they said We Quit We Quit.

Don't seem right to me that anyone be flogged for drinking beer (maybe for manufacturing rotgut though) but if someone is a Muslim and chooses to subject himself to Islamic Law then thats his 'own funeral'. In any case, Islamic Law should have no jurisdiction over non-Muslims, IMHO. I've been to some Muslim countries and am sad to report that they don't quite see it that way.

No, people should be adviced first about the disadvantages of alcohol ,so that they choose not to drink with their own freedom not because they are afraid of punishment. Otherwise, they will drink hiddenly.

Yes, people should be flogged for drinking warm beer with a wet spaghetti noodle. Of course, chilled beer in the summer is forgivable. (or winter depending on what side of the hemisphere you're on)
