What is the route across the country with the least elevation change? i'm driving a small car with a trailer from portland, or to baltimore, md and i want to save as much as i can on fuel costs, so the flattest route is of particular interest...

Try and plan your trip on a couple of the MAP sites. Google or MAPQUEST would be my first choice. The easiest way is to shoot for the lowest pass altitude.
