If a flight is canceled because of weather conditions, and they couldn't get off the runway for hours, would they give everyone a flight for the next day? Or would everyone's vacation, visit etc, be canceled?

I flew Southwest one time and flights were cancelled from weather and the passengers were told that they are not responsible for weather so they passengers would be on their own. They will rebook on another flight but then you pay the difference which is a lot more last minute.

Depends where. Within the EU airlines are obliged to give another flight or a full refund.
