Our HOA board isn't doing its job. As homeowners, what recourse do we have?

    First, check your CCR's and by-laws and see if a majority of homeowners can vote them out of office. Most people don't want the hassle though. Do you have a property manager? See if the manager can lead the board in the right direction. Document,list and photo all the areas where the board is in default, then send it certified mail to all the board members and ask them to remedy the problems. Make sure the majority of homeowners attend the board meetings. When the board members see that homeowners actually have an interest in the association and are willing to participate, they will be more diligent in their duties.If all else fails, consult an attorney.
