Christmas. It is chopped liver for the world. It is unrecognizable. The real meaning of Christmas gets lost in the wrapping paper and tossed out in the trash. What's to celebrate? Consumption? I don't think so. Happy Friday CF! :)
Valentine's Day. It makes single people feel like crap. It makes men go nuts trying to be Mr. Romantic. It makes women depressed when they don't get flowers at work like the other women. It's just a made up day for commercial gain that ends up making everyone feel like sh!t.
Ramadan. Ha
Dammit! I was going to say "Groundhog Day" but then I read your explanation. Is there really a National Sandwich Day? I might have to start celebrating that one. :)
This is a tough question because I kind of like them all. I guess maybe New Years Day because it's the end of the "holiday season" which I quite like, and it marks the beginning of the longest stretch of the year without a "day off" holiday where I work.
Talk Like a Pirate Day
The "4th" of July. Only because I can't go anywhere because my dog freaks with fireworks going off. I'm afraid if I leave her by herself she'll have a heart attack.
thanksgiving and xmas -- too much damn eating
President's Day. Winter time, can't use the holiday to the fullest.
Does April Fools day count...?
Other than that, i like all the Hollidays ;)
Easter ... with Christmas coming in a close second most disliked holiday.
While the candy eggs and gift giving can be nice, the whole Christian religion these holidays are based on is something I reject and dislike.
Christmas
People keep saying that Jesus was born in a tool shed on Dec. 25, and that is just wrong. Palestinian winters are too cold to be wandering around a desert, looking for a place to have a child.
Also, I don't see why people keep saying "Merry Christmas" to every person who walks by. I mean, what if they're Jewish, or Muslim, or something else? As a Satanist, I think it's very offensive to have someone come up to a person and assume right off of the bat that he/she is a Christian.
all holidays are fake since the beginning of advertising .I don't think you need skis to celebrate jesus's birthday .(when ever that is)
Martin Luther King jr day.
every year some jackass expects me to join in the worship of this widely misunderstood man, talk down about the white race and commiserate with them about how "whitey" has walked all over us.
Valentine's Day is a joke of a holiday but I really dislike most of them.
Right now, Christmas, because
1. it's been commercialized far beyond reason or piety and
2. I am really disgusted by the way vicious politicians and talk-show hosts have tried to turn the holiday into a hatefest, driving people apart and insulting anyone outside of their own tiny group of extremists. They've turned the season of love and happiness at year's end into a bitter mosh pit. I used to look forward to it; now, I dread turning on the TV news at that time of year because I know what I'm going to hear, and none of it is honest, and none of it is good.
Halloween, because the is what I like to think of as a B.S Department store holiday. I could go out and buy 5 bags of candy any day, but when Halloween rolls on in, it then becomes mandatory to avoid egging by spending like 4 dollars a bag which ends up being wasted on kids who I see at school -- a sign you are too old to be trick-or-treating. (Why won't they just buy the candy? Jeez...) I'm sorry, but I hate passing out candy, because the people are so rude about it. Oh, and talk about ruining the cable. Goodness, could they play worse movies on the television at this time?
Ironically enough, Halloween is one of my "expertises," so I guess there's the one good thing...
Oh, and Valentines Day sucks, too. But that's just because I don't care for chocolate, and no one ever gets me anything, anyways... Ahhh well.
I think too many holidays are just companies who are centered around the premise of "hey, buy this cheap and useless cliche garbage for 4 times more than it is normally, and give it to loved ones, because you 'care' [so we can ultimately make a killing off of it]"
Talk Like a Pirate Day is not fake!
Columbus day should be though.
which holiday all them are beautiful.
I'd say Kwanzaa, but you said no fake holidays...
So it would have to be Thanksgiving. I love having a big meal with family and taking time to be grateful, but there are more lives lost to DWI on Thanksgiving than any other day.
New years. It builds up hope for a better year and everybody celebrates it ridiculously and you have to stay up late to see it happen and then before you know it you're taking out all the Christmas decorations again thinking where the hell did that year go?? and obviously since that year flew by, usually it was full of crap and idiots who screwed it up for you and missed opportunities etc. Sorry for being so bitter, I'm a realist and a pessimist LOL :D
i dont like Thanksgiving because i have to cook a ton of food. i feel obligated.:(

I dont like Christmas.
It is too commercialized.
easter
Christmas and New Year are pretty depressing.
Christmas. Beside the fact that I am an atheist, it's all the hype, the phoney greetings, the rude people in stores, the crowds, people asking me for money, the senseless killing of trees, the cold weather......need I go on?
the 12th of never. hehe
You canceled out my usual answer for this question, you scurvy knave.
I once went skiing and absolutely hated it.
Tough question.
Probably Halloween, but I love it too. I love celebrations.
The least favorite holiday must be an imaginative thing. LOL

Hi Ilona. Happy Saturday m'dear. I like the ideal/concept of Christmas but the practical implementation of it is kinda disappointing. :)

I could have given you a one-word answer CF and let you use your imagination and fill in the gaps. But I didn't! I usually give a reason for my opinion just so there is no doubt how I arrived at it! :)

what's not to hate about the yearly celebration of the seven deadly sins?
by supercricketman on January 17th, 2011
That's why Thanksgiving is our favorite holiday. Family/friends/good food/good memories...no presents, minimal decoration, no trash heap to be picked up and removed. Simple. Happy Tuesday scm! :)
by RosieGHM Jetpacker on January 18th, 2011
simple, happy gluttony and sloth :)
