General dropped into a boiling water and cooked till tender. Some things, like macaroni i like firm and linguini i like soft. If its lasagna I like steamed for a short period of time, then backed with all the sauce and fixings.

lots of different ways, but adding shredded cheese and cubed chicken helps with lots of dishes

I put it in boiling, and then simmering, lightly salted water for about 10 minutes depending on the kind of pasta. I am not crazy on al dente, but don't want slush either! Sometimes I am happy just to mix it with olive oil, garlic and chilli peppers after.. other times I go the whole hog and make up some sauce too.
