Yes. A few years ago, I drove from Southern California all the way to Maine, then Quebec, then back across Canada and down the Pacific coast home.

I thoroughly enjoyed it, but I didn't know enough about what I was doing to get the best possible experience.

I'd love to do it again someday with better planning and more time spent exploring local areas.

Yup we drove from Louisiana to Chicago and stopped at many other big cities on the way and the way back. It was so much fun we plan to take another road trip but this time to somewhere else.

Yeap (twice) the first time from California to Massachusetts southern route then on over to 95.
Truly AWESOME, so many different type of beauty
through out the US (hint: dont do the entire
state of Texas unless you have to). The second
time we left from Vegas and went thru panhandle
(smile) on over to St. Augustine,FL (its so
powerful and each time you see something new).
EVERYONE SHOULD DO IT AT LEAST ONCE IN YOUR
LIFE TIME (would do it again in a minute :o)

Yes, It was okay. We spent most of the time at the grand canyon. That was fun. A lot of the time it was boring. There is a whole lot of not much in the middle of the US. I live bi coastal so I was used to both the East and West costs. Not much new for me to see there. It did make me realize how very big this country is. +3

No but I'd like to. If I did, I would take my time and enjoy the different states.

A few times. Used to do it on a regular basis with my grandfather, he would take me along for a week or two during spring break when he would go down to Texas to visit family and friends, one of whom was his accountant so he could write most of the trip off to get his taxes done :). Also would occasionally take trips elsewhere during the summer, gramps knew how to have fun.

About 15 years ago I helped a girlfriend relocate from Minnesota to California. We packed up a U-Haul, put her car on a trailer, and drove for days. It was FANTASTIC! I highly recommend the good ol' road trip. I grew up in So Cal, so I've always felt like the country is crowded. This trip opened my eyes to how much open space is left, and how beautiful the middle bits are! We saw Mt Rushmore along the way, along with many other sights. Seriously, great trip!

    Five times.

    1. Florida to Oregon in 1979

    2. Oregon to Connecticut in 1980
(not counting Massachusetts to Michigan and return in 1981)

    3. New York to Washington in 1982
(not counting Arizona to Washington in 1984)

    4. Washington to Connecticut in 1985
(not counting Connecticut to Wisconsin in 1988)

    5. California to Connecticut in 2002
(not counting Connecticut to Wisconsin and return in 2007)

Also not counting numerous trips between Wisconsin (and Michigan) and Massachusetts, approximately one round trip per year from 1988 to 1999. Most of the other trips were household moves in which I drove myself.

I've generally enjoyed it each time, but I don't want to move away from New England any more, so the household move thing is probably a thing of the past now. Knock on wood.

Didn't drive... but at the tender age of sixteen (back in 1974), I hitch-hiked across Canada. It was an eye-opening experience. I learned a lot (some of which I wish I hadn't).

By the time my brother decided to do it as well (fifteen years later), the country had changed and I was worried for him. It hadn't been all that innocent when I did it, but by 1989 it was downright ugly. I survived, and thankfully so did he. However, I wouldn't recommend it in todays times and certainly not in the U.S.

    Hope this helps.

I've done it a few times. A few years back, for one of our permanent change of station moves for the Army, I went to the KOA website and plotted our trip from Monterey, CA to Columbia, SC, stopping off at the various campgrounds along the way. It was pretty cool.

    Shatzee coming back?

We drove one time from IL to Los Angeles, California. We went thru Iowa, Missouri, Kansas, Colorado, New Mexico and Arizona to get there. It was a 2 day long drive. That was many years ago but I would do it again. I love road trips.

I frequently drive from one side of the country to the other and back again in a weekend, but I suspect that my country is considerably smaller than yours.

Many times...south Texas to alaska and back, many times to colorado, kansas, Canada, washington state and many other destinations over most of the USA and Canada.

Some of it pulling an RV trailer. Texas, kansas, colorado, washington state, Canada. just to name a few.

I love to drive and have been driving for 59 years. Praise the Lord I have never had an accident in that time and have driven way in excess of a million and a half miles.

May of 2010 my husband and myself traveled from New York to San Fran and made all the stops in between, Mt Rushmore, over the Rockies, the Arches in Utah, rte 66, Grand Canyon, Vegas, Yosemite, Reno, Yellowstone, and just about everything in between, turn in 7,400 miles by the time we were done, and it was the best month of my life,
