  • Solar technology has not come that far along. We've been studying it since 1934 and we can now run water fountains with them.
  • I think so but the solar array would be the size of a patio umbrella. Not real practical to take on the commuter train.

  • Not with the current technology. The best we can do at the moment is a portable solar array that can recharge a laptop battery in a few hours using solar energy. We've had solar-powered calculators for years, but even the most efficient CPU we have right now draws more power than any reasonably sized solar panel can produce. And given that most people don't consider anything less than 2GHz with a 17" screen to be a laptop, I think that the wait might be longer than you think uhless you are willing to lower your expectations a little bit and settle for something closer to a Pentium II in performance.
