While using common sense, it is very easy to learn about computers.
Same in the case of importing.
In daily life, importing could mean, bringing items from another country. It could be divided into following actions.
1. Buying item in foreign country.
2. Taking it to a port.
3. Loading into a ship.
4. Registering in your own country.
5. Paying duties etc.
6. Blah blah.
In computers, when bringing information or data (file ) created in or by a foreign software, into the one where you are working in. Without importing, it might be illegal and the program might not recognise it at all.
Example:
America imports made products from China.
China makes the product and its brought into America for selling.
Computer import means to transfer one item from one place to another. like to transfer photos from your digital camera into your computer base to be downloaded onto your computer for browsing.
Importing could mean importing bookmarks from your web browsers to importing data from another Hard Disk Drive (HDD).
It usually means retrieving settings/data from a external device or other program.
