Help answer this question below.
G'day LOULOU,
Thank you for your question.
Sydney is a good place to visit and there are plenty of things to do there. However, there are some negatives as with all big cities. It is expensive to rent there and there are also transport problems.
However, I would be inclined to go there for a week if you can just to have a look around. I appreciate that if you are not an Australian it might be difficult.
I have attached some information for you.
Regards

Go for it! We stayed there for a only a short time and didnt want to go home. What HASNT it got?!
If you have been offered work in the children's hospital at Randwick, take it...they will arrange quarters and all....that is a great place to be working...after your shift you can catch a bus down to the beach...only a short drive....many of the nurses there, when my daughter was there, were from the UK.
Nice place? its an amazing day, with so much to do so many cultures so many events etc etc. and also everything is close together.
Only problem is its really expensive.
But totaly worth it :)
Its a beautiful place and you gotta see it to understand
I live in Sydney and I'm not going to say it's fantastic, but it is a pretty cool place.
Sydney has really nice cafe's and resturants to beautiful parks and small towns. The city is great as well. Be sure to check out Darling Harbour while your there. There are plenty of things to see and do and you won't have a problem finding somewhere to rent or live, there's always a place avaliable.

Sydney is a great place. Rent is expensive. But there is so much to do and you won't get bored. The area around Randwick has lots of younger people, young families, students and travellers. And it's close to some great beaches and beach walks.

It's got plenty of information on Sydney suburbs and services and facilities in those suburbs. It may help make the move easier.
I just recently got back from my 3 day holiday in sydney... It is wonderful! LUNA PARK, TAROONGA ZOO -- theres plenty of things to do! But the traffic and graffiti around was not impressive.
It depends, are you a city person? Someone else said maybe you should come for a week, i second that its a good idea so you can see what its like.
Sydney is a nice place to live in and to visit. It is one of the tourist attraction in Australia. There are many fun things to do in Sydney like cruising, opera house tour, blue mountain tours, whale watching cruise, dining cruises, etc .
Lot of sea food restaurants is another attraction their.

Sydney is a great place to live but it can sometimes be hard to make friends. It is a big city and that can making things a little harder. If you are friendly and outgoing person, then you will be ok. But if you are a shy person, then you really will have to make an effort.
If you want to find a good area to live, look at this website. It has a lot of information on where to live in sydney and melbourne
