I saw it for the first time last spring. I had seen it in pictures, but I was completely unprepared for it's true majesty. It was a clear day, and the sun brought out the colors in the rocks. I could have stared out into the canyon for hours. I looked down to the thin ribbon of the river below and was humbled by the thought that my lifetime was just a brief moment compared to the time it took for the Colorado to create the beauty before me.
