No. Other people slow you down. They tend to go slower on walkways, and you can't get round them like you can off-walkway. If you had an empty walkway to yourself, it would speed you up. But people tend to slow their walking pace so they are only going as fast as they would be off-walkway - but spending less effort. Walkways are for the tired, not those in a hurry,
