  • Not upsetting the prudes in the neighborhood with your antics. Not me.
  • Aging Gracefully would mean engaging in activities appropriate to the age brackets. We could divide life into say 10 decades. We will leave the first two out as they are of childhood and teenage. The decades of life after age 20 must be lived to the full deriving the best out of life in the most appropriate way. Transition from one decade to the next too should be seamless and effortless. The real challenge will come during the 30-40 and 40-50 brackets. In these if a person succeeds in aging without wanting to look younger while his body ages and mind grows wiser, half the job of graceful aging is done. Beyond 50 years of age it is only a matter of carrying on with the process of graceful aging initiated at age 20 and carried through to 50. By 60s most of life's responsibilities would be over and it is time to go into semi-retirement. At this juncture activities should be concentrated on benefiting the younger generations with life experience earned so that the they too get a chance to learn what graceful aging is. The process should be carried forward by keeping the body fit with exercise appropriate to the age, the mind alert by positive thought processes and the brain well exercised by imbibing and passing on as much extra knowledge as one could. . I know a few people in the 80s who have very successfully aged very gracefully and lead very independent lives while caring for all those around them. . How do you like this for a definition of graceful aging?
  • No, not really...and certainly not I. I do not go gently into the dark night....
