That sounds like a bit of misinformation you were given. What they meant was not cutting the cord for a short while (maybe 5 minutes or so) until it stops pulsing (or the blood stops flowing through it). This is because it can take a short while for the baby to completely switch over from receiving oxygen through mom to using his/her own lungs. Cutting the cord immediately (which is routine in hospitals) makes the transition longer and harder on the baby. The blood in the cord is also a strong healing agent and it's beneficial for the baby to take that with him/her.
I've never heard of that. It doesn't make sense to me. But I do know of some grown men that need to cut the umbilical cord with their mothers.
Because they want to be under one accord.
I guess they want to do it old school...I would assume that early man (or shoudl I say woman) had two options when a child was born..carry the child around until the umbellical cord dried and fell apart (much like bats do) or chewed through it. I think it's kind of a copout to go a few days then have it cut, I say if you are gonna do it old school do it all the way...
I've heard of people letting the cut cord drop off and it does after a few days, but who in the hell would leave the baby and the cord attached to the mother? What???
In the US what are the legal implications for refusing medical attendance at your baby's birth? Is it even legal not to have anyone there?

You're reading I've heard of people not cutting the umbilical cord until days after the baby's birth, why did they do that?
