Can a nonprofit corp be funded totally by the income of an unrelated business if that business operates solely to fund the nonprofit corp? Will the business that funds the nonprofit corp have to pay taxes on the money they earn?

    I can only speak for the UK and you need to work it out with a local accountant but a profit-making company can submit 'charitable donations' (with tax benefits in most cases), to a not-for-profit organisation. However, there must be a careful paper trail (of course), and the not-for-profit org. that benefits from the funding needs to be able to show that the money it then generates is going somewhere other than into the pockets of private individuals who do not count as charitable recipients.
